Lade - cold, cloudy, e 4 - Another shocking day of wintry-like weather with the `Beast from the East` blowing in off the sea keeping the temperatures low. Two checks of the local patch delivered very little apart from an adult Little Gull amongst a flock of 100 Black-headed Gulls feeding on emerging insects over south lake. Cuckoo, Hobby and a few Swifts also noted.
Dungeness - A mid-morning check of the sea revealed very little happening apart from a few terns on the move. The Patch was also quiet.
However, in the afternoon we joined TG and PB at the boats for what turned out to be a tidy seawatch (1510-1630hrs) in good light and with most of the seabirds close to shore. The stand out event was a flock of five Black-throated Divers in superb summer plumage that clipped the point, plus a steady passage of Kitts and Common Terns, also nice and close.

Black-throated Diver 5, Red-throated Diver 2, Gannet 59, Fulmar (down), Barwit 18, Whimbrel 2, auk 6, Razorbill 1, Guillemot 3, Kittiwake 39, Sandwich Tern 83, Common Tern 844, Little Tern 5, Arctic Skua 2.
