Lade - 0700hrs - cool, cloudy, showers, sw 5 - The wind returned overnight once more affording rubbish birding conditions. We slogged around the local patch where the only notables were a coming-and-going flock of hirundines and Swifts over north lake, in the lee of the willow swamp. Couldn`t find anything interesting in their midst of which a significant proportion were House Martins.
Dungeness - 0915hrs - An hour in the seawatching hide delivered hundreds of terns tooing and froing in the blustery wind, a distant trickle of Gannets, two Fulmars, a Bonxie, six Little Terns and a Manx Shearwater. At least 100 Swallows and 30 House Martins came in off the sea.
The land was predictably quiet with only Black Redstart and Wheatear of note and cracking views of a male Peregrine imperiously wheeling overhead and into the lee of the power station.
Dengemarsh - 1400hrs - We checked out the hayfields were there was just the usual Ringed Plovers, Shelducks, Lapwings and Little Egrets. At least six Hobbies were active over Hookers along with plenty of Swifts and hirundunes.
Dungeness - Back to the sea with a two hour watch in the company of TG and PB which resulted in three Bonxies and two Arctic Skuas, plus a trickle of terns, Gannets and two each of Kittiwake and Med Gull.
