Post breeding Lapwings

Lade - 0800hrs - cool, cloudy, ne 4 - Another chilly day with plenty of Swifts and House Martins feeding low over the lakes in cool weather conditions. There was very little else of note apart from a pair of Teal in the willow swamp.
An afternoon visit for insects also yielded little due to the cool temperatures.

                                Mute Swans, Lade

ARC - At the south end the drake Garganey remained tucked up in the invasive NZ pond weed, amongst Gadwalls, Mallards, Teal, Shelduck and Oystercatcher, plus a post breeding flock of five Lapwings - the return wader passage is already underway... More Swifts and hirundines were over the lake.
Burrowes - Plenty of eclipse ducks here, including Shoveler and Teal, plus a pair of Little Ringed Plovers and a Dunlin from Makepeace hide. Good to see that the water levels are falling, affording suitable islands and mud for the forthcoming wader passage.
